Who am I?

Hello! My name is Michael Lukich, and I’m the creator of Solver School. After a 20-year professional career in data analytics, I decided to apply those skills to poker and start Solver School.

Solvers are amazing tools. They have transformed my understanding of this game. My goal is to share everything that I know with you so that you can use them to explore the game of poker for yourself.

My Poker Origin

I have been obsessed with poker for a long time. I graduated college in 2003. Before I started my professional career that summer, I spent hours watching the ESPN coverage of the WSOP when Chris Moneymaker won the Main Event. At the same time, I began playing more home games and online. I was hooked immediately.

I doubled as a part-time player in the evenings and on weekends while climbing the corporate ladder during the day in various marketing, data, and technology roles. I never took the jump into playing professionally. I don’t think I had the mental game to make it purely as a player. But my passion for the game never waned.

The Game Changer: Discovering Solvers

In 2017, I stumbled across my first solver — a tool called CREV, which later turned into GTO+. Seeing parallels between the optimization and data analysis tools I used professionally, I quickly understood the value they could provide. Before that time, I had read countless books about poker strategy but struggled to combine everything into a cohesive strategy. After I began using solvers, things started to click. I started to be able to connect the dots.

I fully integrated solvers into my study routine in 2018 and saw positive results immediately. Within 18 months, I moved from playing $1/$3 at my local casino to beating $5/$10 and $10/$25 games.

I created a personal website, www.lukich.io, where I started broadly sharing my poker work. I developed some analysis tools and ramped up a coaching practice.

I also started working with the Solve for Why team, appearing on a season of Poker Out Loud, as a guest coach on a monthly mastermind, and in a mini-course on solvers on their subscription site.

Introducing Solver School & The Solver Masterclass

Solver School was the next iteration of this journey. I launched in 2022, intending to help others navigate the world of data-driven poker exploration. The first of which I launched was the Solver Masterclass.

The Solver Masterclass contains all the lessons I have learned from thousands of hours of using solvers. With 40+ hours of content over nine modules designed to teach you foundational and advanced concepts, you’ll learn how to use these tools properly. I’ll teach you all the data analysis techniques and lessons that have considerably transformed my understanding of this game.
